Chinese man spends S$1.9 million lottery winnings tipping livestreamers, doesn't give wife of 20 years anything
Tips.
A man in China struck the lottery, winning an impressive 10.17 million Yuan (S$1.9 million).
He immediately told his wife the good news, even asking her to buy whatever she wanted. He also gave her a bank card, which he claimed had 3 million Yuan (S$544,000) in it.
The wife, though, kept it in a drawer without spending it.
The husband had no such inclination.
He soon started gambling and became enamoured with watching women livestreamers at night.
According to local media reports, the husband handsomely tipped a number of these livestreamers.
Wang reportedly felt great when the live streamers would address him affectionately after his donations.
These donations included a mind-bending 1.2 million Yuan (S$217,616) to various streamers.
According to the South China Morning Post, Wang asked one of these livestreamers, "what kind of old man" she liked, before positing ", an old man with a lot of money, like me?".
He also addressed a livestreamer in messages as his "wife", while she addressed him as her "husband".
His wife would later catch him and one of these livestreamers together at a railway station.
The livestreamer would later deny being in a relationship with Wang, saying that if she wanted to be in a relationship, she wouldn't go for someone that old.
To make things worse, the man's purported S$544,000 gift in funds to his wife turned out to be another fib.
The wife has filed for divorce and told Chinese media how heartbroken she was by her husband's betrayal.
"I really wish he had never won the lottery."
The husband did not deny the claims when approached by the media, instead saying he had spent all the money. He also said the court will decide on this situation.
