A Malaysian man using a Singapore-registered Toyota Alphard was suspected of providing illegal cross-border transport services at the Malaysia side of the immigration complex at the Causeway.

The vehicle was impounded in Johor, Malaysia on Oct. 16.

The Johor Road Transport Department (JPJ) posted on Facebook on Oct. 17 that its officers stopped the vehicle at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar CIQ Complex.

The JPJ is a transport authority.

Investigations found that the driver did not have an operator's licence, was not registered as a public service vehicle, and did pay Malaysia road tax to carry out its service.

The vehicle was carrying two passengers, an Indian and a Filipino, at the time it was caught.

The Malaysian driver was issued a notice and the vehicle was seized for investigations.
