M'sia girl, 16, stabbed to death in school: Principal apologises to parents while fighting back tears
She asked for understanding as the school's staff were also "deeply affected".
The principal of the Selangor, Malaysia school where a 14-year-old boy allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old girl to death on the premises, was seen fighting back tears as she apologised to parents.
In a video circulating online, the principal expressed regret and pledged responsibility, reported The Star.
The video appeared to have been filmed at a meeting with school administration and parents of students.
“Nobody wanted this to happen. On behalf of the school, I sincerely apologise for what has happened. The school welcomes feedback from parents to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment,” she said in Malay.
Challenge of managing large student population
The principal said the school remains committed despite the challenge of managing a large student population of 1,197 students.
She asked for understanding as the teaching staff were also "deeply affected".
“If parents have any suggestions for appropriate action, we will take it, so our children can study in comfort and safety,” she added.
The school also made a statement on Oct. 17 on Facebook apologising for the "pain and distress" caused.
It read: "Words cannot express how deeply shattered we are by this tragic incident. We extend our heartfelt apologies to the YSX families and to all the pupils."
The suspect is now in remand and investigations are ongoing.
