3 girls & 3 boys, aged 12-18, beat girl, 13, with baseball bat & belt in Paya Lebar
One of the perpetrators was a 12-year-old girl.
Six boys and girls in Singapore ganged up to beat up a 13-year-old girl with baseball bats and belts because they were dissatisfied with her.
The group of assailants also stepped on the victim's abdomen and asked her to squat, while they drew on her face with markers, Shin Min Daily News reported.
The incident took place on Aug. 10, 2024 at a condominium near Paya Lebar MRT station.
Perpetrators
The group of perpetrators consisted of three girls, aged 12, 13, and 18, as well as three boys aged 14, 16, and 18.
Under the Children and Young Persons Act, no identifying information of anyone under the age of 18 involved in the case can be reported.
Charges
The 16-year-old boy pleaded guilty on Oct. 17, 2025 to eight charges, including intent to cause harm with a dangerous weapon and drug use.
He pleaded guilty to four of the charges, while the remaining charges will be taken into consideration by the judge during sentencing.
The boy has been remanded since he was charged on Aug. 29, 2025.
Incident
The investigation revealed that on the day of the incident, the victim contacted the 13-year-old perpetrator.
The victim told the 13-year-old perpetrator that she missed her boyfriend after their break-up and said he invited her to join the gathering.
At that time, the 13-year-old perpetrator, who was near Paya Lebar MRT station, told the others involved about her dissatisfaction with the victim.
They decided to teach the victim a lesson.
After the victim arrived, the group walked towards the 14-year-old boy's home at a condominium where they planned to spend the night.
Violence
When they arrived at the condominium's side door, the group suddenly surrounded the victim.
A few of them punched and kicked the victim while others kept watch.
When the group entered the condominium, they continued assaulting the victim in the stairwell.
Upon entering the house, they continued assaulting the victim.
They hit the victim's head, arms, and abdomen with a plastic baseball bat.
They also whipped her back with a belt.
The victim did not fight back throughout the assault.
In addition, two of the perpetrators ordered her to lie down before stepping on her abdomen.
One of them also wrote on the victim's face with a marker and ordered her to do squats.
The victim ended up spending the night in the apartment as she was too frightened to escape.
Injuries
The morning after the attack, the group went shopping at Haji Lane and brought the victim along.
Worried the public would realise they had beaten the victim up, they made her wait at a stairwell in Golden Mile Tower.
The victim took the chance to escape home.
When the group could not find her, they went shopping at Bugis Street.
When the victim's father saw her return home with bruises, he immediately called the police.
The victim was sent for a medical examination.
The medical report revealed that the victim had bruises all over her body, a scar above her lips and her nose bridge also suffered a minor fracture.
Regret
The 16-year-old boy pleaded for leniency and said he regretted his actions, according to Shin Min.
The prosecution called for a probation suitability report for the boy, stating that he had committed a serious crime by attacking the victim with a weapon.
When pleading for leniency, the boy apologised and said he hoped to return to the secondary school he had attended before to continue his studies.
The judge pointed out that due to the seriousness of the case, he believed that probation could not be considered.
However, the judge deferred his sentencing until the probation suitability assessment was completed.
Two other youths in the group have been sentenced.
The 14-year-old boy involved in the case was earlier ordered to stay at a boys' home for two years, while the 13-year-old girl involved was ordered to stay in a girls' home for 21 months.
The cases of the other alleged perpetrators have yet to be heard.
