Less than half a year after he was arrested for falling asleep in his car, a man in Singapore collided into a parked car while intoxicated.

Aw Ying Liang Henry, 32, faced seven charges under the Road Traffic Act, including drunk driving, driving without due care and caution, and failing to provide assistance after a car accident.

He pleaded guilty to five of the charges on Oct. 17, while two others will be taken into consideration by the judge during sentencing, reported Shin Min Daily News.

Fell asleep while drunk driving

Aw reportedly drank with friends at Cuppage Plaza at 3:30am on May 9, 2023.

Around 20 minutes later, he drove in his car on Orchard Boulevard towards Grange Road.

When he arrived at the junction of Orchard Boulevard and Paterson Road, he stopped as the traffic light turned red.

However, he fell asleep in the car.

At 4:23am, a traffic police officer saw Aw's car had stopped at the stop line for 10 minutes, so he went forward to the car.

There, the officer found him asleep and smelled alcohol on him.

A breathalyser test later revealed 46mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, higher than the legal limit of 35mg.

Aw was subsequently arrested.

Collided into stationary car

Less than half a year later, on Oct. 20 at 2:08am, Aw got involved in another car accident.

He was driving along Bencoolen Street towards Bras Basah Road when he lost control and crashed into the rear of a car that was parked at the other lane.

The male driver of the parked car was injured in the collision.

However, Aw fled the scene and took a taxi home, leaving his car behind.

The victim was taken to Singapore General Hospital for treatment and reportedly suffered abdominal and neck pain.

He had to take six days of sick leave.

Aw will be sentenced on Oct. 29.
