A professor from a Chinese university allegedly killed and dismembered a female internet celebrity.

China Press reported that the professor suspected of the crime has been arrested for investigation. He was reportedly taken away by the police at his university.

However, the school and police have yet to comment on the incident.

The professor's identity was reported as Qin (transliteration).

Female internet celebrity dead

According to HK01, there have been rumours that the female internet celebrity's dismembered body was hidden in the school's family quarters refrigerator for several months.

She was suspected of having been killed sometime in May 2025.

For the last five months, the female internet celebrity has not updated her social media account.

An Oct. 17 post on WeChat showed a woman sitting in a car.

Online commenters speculated whether the person was the victim who was subsequently killed and dismembered.

Accused of infidelity

The same female celebrity is suspected to be Qin's mistress.

China Press reported that earlier in 2025, Qin's wife had reportedly gone to his office and publicly accused him of infidelity.

Qin had reportedly been supporting the celebrity for a long time and even spent nearly 10 million yuan (S$1,815,663) on her.

Reactions

According to the WeChat post, some of the commenters online appeared to be students from the university.

They had referred to Qin as "our vice president".

The suspicion by those who commented was that Qin killed and dismembered his "mistress" and put her body in a refrigerator.

In addition, the students alleged that Qin had asked them to help him carry the refrigerator.

Another comment stated that Qin was reportedly taken away by the police when he was in a science laboratory.

As of Oct. 20, checks on the university's WeChat account showed that it has not addressed the speculation.
