Korean singer, 34, claims US airline racially discriminated & called security on her, couldn't eat for 15 hours

34-year-old South Korean singer and former Sistar member, Soyou, recently shared her unpleasant experience on Delta Airlines, a U.S. airline.

In an Instagram story on Oct. 19, she said she had been extremely tired and had asked for a Korean flight attendant to check the meal time.

The steward, however, allegedly took issue with her attitude and treated her like a "problematic passenger".

The situation escalated to the point where they even called a security officer.

Soyou then claimed she had to endure cold looks and attitudes for the 15-hour flight.

“After wrapping up my New York schedule, I boarded a layover flight from Atlanta to Korea.

Exhausted, I was looking to find out when the meal is scheduled. So I simply asked for a Korean flight attendant, but the purser rushed to judge me as a problematic passenger with an attitude, even getting security involved.

It pushed me to say, ‘If I’m the problem, I’ll get off’, and afterwards, I had to endure the cold gazes and attitudes of the crew throughout the flight.

At that moment, I thought, ‘Could this be racial discrimination?’

I couldn’t eat anything for the duration of the flight, which was more than 15 hours, and that experience now remains as a deep wound caused by racial prejudice.

I hope no one will get disgracefully discriminated because of their race. "

Chosun reported that there was an anonymous comment claiming to be a passenger on the plane, alleging that Soyou was drunk and disorderly.

However, that comment was eventually deleted without any proof of its veracity.

Korea Times noted that this was not the first time a Korean star had issues with Delta.

Singer and actor Hyeri, said in August 2023 that she suffered "unfair treatment" from a foreign airline after being forcibly downgraded from first-class to economy with no refund.
