TelegramWhatsappSingapore has welcomed United States President Donald Trump’s plan to end the Gaza conflict, it said in a press release on Sep. 30.

On Sep. 29 (U.S. time), Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and later revealed his 20-point proposal called the “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict”.

It called for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages held by Palestinian militant group Hamas, as well as detailing plans for the medium and long-term future of the territory, specifying that Israel would not annex or occupy Gaza.

Call to accept the proposal

Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a press statement on Sep. 30, saying that it welcomed Trump’s plan, noting that Israel had already agreed to it.

The statement also called on Hamas to accept the proposal to end the war in Gaza.

Singapore, it said, supports an immediate ceasefire, the immediate release of all remaining hostages, and a surge of humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians.

It also welcomed Trump’s initiative to “establish a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians” to agree on a “political horizon for peaceful coexistence”.

The statement reiterated Singapore’s belief in a negotiated two-state solution, consistent with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The statement also reiterated the belief that a negotiated two-state solution is the only viable pathway to achieve a comprehensive, just, and durable solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
