He was charged with driving without due care or reasonable consideration.
A Singaporean bus driver, who hit and killed a motorcyclist, has been sentenced to 12 weeks' jail, and had his driving licence suspended for eight years.
On Nov. 27, 2024, Muhammad Ashiddiq bin Muhaimen, 27, was driving a double-decker Tower Transit bus on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE), according to charge sheets seen by Mothership.
He had entered the PIE through the Lorong 2 Toa Payoh slip road at roughly the same time as a motorcycle, and drove behind it on the same lane, Shin Min Daily News reported.
He tried to overtake the motorcycle, and the two vehicles collided, causing the motorcyclist to lose balance, fall towards the bus, and get run over by it.
The 52-year-old motorcyclist, Mulyadi Bin Sulaiman, was pronounced dead at the scene by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedics.
Investigations revealed that Ashiddiq had been driving the bus at a speed of about 59km/h at the time, Shin Min reported.
He was charged with driving without due care or reasonable consideration.
His sentence was to start on Sep. 29.
After his release, he will be disqualified from holding or obtaining all classes of driving licences for eight years.
