Electricity tariffs in Singapore will go up by an average of 0.08 cents per kWh from October to December 2025.

This is due to higher energy costs.

Fluctuations in the tariffs every quarter are due to global fuel prices, driven by geopolitical factors, SP Group said in a Sep. 30 news release.

0.3 per cent increase

The new tariff rate is 0.3 per cent higher compared to that of the previous quarter.

This amounts to an increase of S$0.31 before GST to the average monthly electricity bill for families living in HDB four-room flats, according to SP Group.

This is the first time the electricity tariffs have been increased since the third quarter of 2024.

Explaining the increase, SP Group shared that the energy cost component of electricity tariffs are adjusted each quarter using the average natural gas prices in the first 2.5 months in the preceding quarter.

As such, the tariffs may "fluctuate quarter to quarter due to volatile global fuel prices driven by geopolitical factors."

Gas prices go up by 0.07 cents

City Energy also announced an increase in gas tariff by 0.07 cent per kWh from October to December 2025.

Similarly, City Energy said it reviews gas tariffs on a quarterly basis, and the increase for the coming quarter is attributable to higher fuel cost.

Up to S$190 U-Save rebates in October

Over 950,000 eligible households will receive U-Save and S&CC rebates in October 2025, as part of the permanent GST Voucher scheme and the enhanced Assurance package.

The rebates were announced by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong earlier in February.

For the October 2025 disbursement, eligible households will receive up to S$190 worth of U-Save rebates depending on their flat type, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said in a press release on Sep. 30.

They will also receive up to a month of S&CC rebates.

No action is required on part of the households as the rebates will be credited directly into their SP services and S&CC accounts, MOF said.
