S'porean cyclist dies after getting run over by lorry in Johor after hitting pothole, repair works to be carried out immediately

A 42-year-old Singaporean male cyclist died in Johor on Jun. 14 after hitting a pothole, falling over and getting ran over by a lorry.

The New Straits Times reported Kulai district police chief Tan Seng Lee saying the man was with three other cyclists.

He suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Facebook post by the Kulai Fire Station also described the accident.

In it, they said a man had been hit by a truck carrying gravel.

Tan also said the man was sent to a hospital in Kulai for a post-mortem examination.

Repairs to the road have been ordered after the accident.

Minister of Works, Alexander Nanta Linggi said that repair work will be carried out immediately.

He said that comprehensive repairs will be conducted after the relevant administrative steps.

As further safety precautions, he advised cyclists to prioritise safety and avoid using routes frequented by heavy vehicles, choose a suitable time to cycle and wear safety equipment.

He also expressed his condolences to the victim's families.
