M'sian teacher dies alone at home in Johor, colleagues looking for only known relative in S'pore
The police found her body after a neighbour had called due to a strange smell from Luo's house.
The colleagues of a Malaysian teacher are looking for the woman's only relative in Singapore after her death in Skudai, Johor.
According to Lianhe Zaobao, 39-year-old Luo Qunfeng (transliteration) taught in a primary school in Malaysia when her colleagues noticed her absence from work for many months.
A colleague told the Chinese media that Luo had not been to school for a while, and when her colleagues visited her, they received no response.
Apparently, the last time a colleague visited Luo was in February 2025.
Luo's neighbours also said they had not seen her for a long time, Lianhe Zaobao added.
On Jun. 13, a neighbour called the police because of a strange smell. When the police arrived, they found Luo's body.
The colleague told Lianhe Zaobao that from the degree of decomposition, Luo appeared to have been dead for nearly a month.
Search for only relative
Lianhe Zaobao stated that Luo's body is at the morgue of the government hospital, and her family needs to claim her body for the funeral.
However, her colleagues shared that Luo's parents died before 2010 and had always lived alone. They also do not know much about her family background.
In addition, her colleagues who have worked with her longer said that the only relative she mentioned was an aunt, Luo's mother's sister, who had moved to Singapore.
Lianhe Zaobao said that Luo's aunt would be about 74 years old, the same age as Luo's mother and may be Luo's only living relative.
"Although there are people who have kindly offered to help arrange her funeral, we still hope to find her relatives to send her off for the last time," said the colleagues.
