Gunman shoots at 3 diners, aged 30-50, at Kuala Lumpur restaurant, 1 dies at scene
The other two were receiving treatment at a local hospital for their injuries.
A man was having dinner with his friends at a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur on Jun. 13 night when a man in black suddenly approached them with a gun and fired several shots.
As a result, three men, aged 30 to 50, were shot, and one of them was pronounced dead at the scene, reported Nanyang Siang Pau.
According to Malaysia police, the deceased's body was sent to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem.
The two injured were receiving treatment at the same hospital, with one of them suffering from serious injuries.
Shooting caught on CCTV camera
According to Sin Chew Daily, the incident took place at a restaurant located along Jalan Tun Sambanthan in Brickfields at around 10:50pm on Friday.
The shooting was caught on CCTV cameras installed at the restaurant.
In the footage, two men in black could be seen arriving outside the restaurant by motorcycle before the one riding pillion alighted and dashed towards the restaurant while holding a gun.
The gunman subsequently pointed it towards a group of seven people who were seated at one of the tables, prompting the diners to run for their lives.
At the time, there were several groups of diners inside the restaurant, including a young child.
Upon noticing the gunman, a man, believed to be the child's father, picked up the child and ran off-camera.
At one point, the gunman ran outside the restaurant towards the motorcycle rider, but he returned shortly after the other man lifted his arm and pointed towards the restaurant.
At the time, a man in white could be seen crawling on the ground at the restaurant.
Upon seeing the man in white, the gunman was suspected to have fired two shots at him before fleeing the scene, reported Sin Chew.
When restaurant employees saw the man in white lying on the ground in pain, they rendered help and alerted the police.
Malaysia police investigating
Citing Brickfields police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood, Free Malaysia Today reported that Malaysian police would be investigating the incident "from various angles".
The police would be examining the CCTV camera footage and identify the motive behind the fatal shooting.
Despite the incident, Ku Mashariman said the public should not be alarmed.
He also encouraged those with information about the shooting to contact the police to assist with investigations.
