A cyclist was left lying face-down on the road following an accident with a tipper truck along Tanah Merah Coast Road towards Xilin Avenue on Jun. 14.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted to the incident at about 8:55am.

A 54-year-old male cyclist was conveyed conscious to Changi General Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Photos and videos circulated online showed a person in cycling apparel lying face-down on the road in the aftermath of the accident.

A tipper truck could be seen in a stationary position on the road.

At least three others in cycling apparel were seen standing next to the fallen cyclist.

A video shot from a vehicle travelling along the road showed the person on the road still moving his legs.

The person was in a prone position beside an opening along the road that led to a worksite.

Tyre marks on the road indicated that heavy vehicles entered and exited the worksite using that entrance.

Commenters said Tanah Merah Coast Road provides an exhilarating cycling experience, but the area has many heavy vehicles plying the roads, which can pose a danger to cyclists.
