Singaporean powerlifting queen Farhanna Farid has rewritten her own deadlift world record for the 10th time since 2022.

On Jun. 10, Farhanna deadlifted a record-breaking 209.5kg in the 52kg class at the 2025 International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Classic Open World Championships held in Chemnitz, Germany.

This beat her previous record of 209kg — her ninth time rewriting her own record — set at the 2024 World Classic Championship in Lithuania last June.

10th time breaking world record

Farhanna's new deadlift world record was seen in a social media video posted by her sponsor, SBD Apparel.

Farhanna was all smiles as she stood upright for the attempt.

After breaking the world record, Farhanna ran over to hug her husband and handler, James Barcelo, to celebrate.

The clip was reposted to Farhanna's Instagram the same day.

A total of 14 powerlifters are representing Singapore in the competition from Jun. 8 to 15, according to Powerlifting Singapore's Instagram.

The team is made up of seasoned athletes and promising first-time competitors.

Background

Farhanna first claimed the world record at the World Open Classic Powerlifting Championships in Sun City, South Africa, in June 2022.

That day, she lifted 197kg and 200.5kg to break the record not once, but twice.

Over the next three years, Farhanna has regularly rewritten her own world records.

On one such occasion in December 2023, the Singaporean broke her own world record twice with 203.5kg and 208kg deadlifts at the Asian Classic Powerlifting Championships in Johor Bahru.

It was made more impressive by the fact that Farhanna was battling a months-long back injury, and a more recent knee issue at the time, according to The Straits Times.
