Income Insurance will cover affected Jetstar customers with their pre-trip cancellation cover out of goodwill
This applies to single trip and annual travel insurance plans purchased before Jun. 11, 2025, 8am.
Affected Jetstar Asia customers who purchased Income's travel insurance with pre-trip cancellation cover will be covered as part of a goodwill gesture, said Income Insurance.
Income Insurance announced on Jun. 12 that it will cover affected eligible customers who are forced to cancel or alter their trips due to Jetstar Asia's cessation of operations.
The airline previously announced that it will be operating with a progressively reduced schedule until its final day of operations on July 31.
Who is eligible?
Income Insurance said affected customers who purchased Income Travel Insurance with pre-trip cancellation cover will be eligible for cover, even though Jetstar Asia's closure does not fall within Income Travel Insurance’s insured events for trip cancellations.
Valid insured events include natural disasters, riots, airport closure due to poor weather conditions and family bereavement.
Affected eligible customers can claim for unused and prepaid expenses such as accommodation, travel packages, local tours, amusement park tickets and transport expenses (outside of Jetstar air ticket expenses).
This will apply to eligible single trip and annual travel insurance plans purchased before Jun. 11, 2025, 8am.
A full refund within the stipulated policy limit will be provided, if and when such customers fail to get a refund from their accommodation, transport or service providers, as per the terms and conditions in their travel insurance policy.
Dhiren Amin, chief customer officer of Income Insurance said of the goodwill gesture, "in light of the recent announcement by Jetstar Asia on the cessation of their operations, we recognise the stress and anxiety that our customers are experiencing due to the impact of this sudden news."
"We want to stand by our customers in extending the necessary support as they navigate the situation.”
