Boeing says it 'stands ready' to support Air India after its 787 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff

All 242 passengers aboard the plane are believed to be dead.

An Air India flight bound for London crashed shortly after taking off from the western Indian city of Ahmedabad on Jun. 12 afternoon.

At around 7:56pm (Singapore time), the Associated Press reported that Ahmedabad city police chief had told the news outlet that "it appears there are no survivors" onboard the flight.

There were 242 passengers and crew members onboard the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national, and seven Portuguese nationals.

There has been an outpouring of support in the face of this tragedy.

Boeing also announced on social media that it "stands ready" to support Air India during this tragedy.

The airplane that crashed, the 787 Dreamliner, is Boeing's flagship long-distance plane.

According to CNA, it is the pride of the U.S. company's catalogue for long-distance planes.
