Police chief says there appears to be no survivors on Air India flight that crashed with 242 onboard
Amongst the travellers, 11 of them were reportedly children.
An Air India flight bound for London crashed shortly after taking off from the western Indian city of Ahmedabad on Jun. 12 afternoon.
At around 7:56pm (Singapore time), the Associated Press reported that Ahmedabad city police chief had told the news outlet that "it appears there are no survivors" onboard the flight.
As of 8:40pm (Singapore time), Air India has yet to release a statement confirming this number.
In a statement issued earlier today, Air India said there were 242 passengers and crew members onboard the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
These included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national, and seven Portuguese nationals.
Amongst the travellers, 11 of them were reportedly children.
Air India added that it is "giving its full cooperation to the authorities investigating this incident".
