Chief flight steward to be jailed 4 weeks for filming female subordinate in hotel room toilet in S'pore
The man concealed the camera under the victim's face towel and filmed her using the toilet.
A 37-year-old South Korean chief cabin attendant will be jailed four weeks for secretly filming his female subordinate in a hotel room toilet in Singapore, CNA reported.
Han, who was the victim's supervisor, was charged on Jun. 11 at the State Courts and pleaded guilty to one count of voyeurism.
The victim's identity cannot be revealed due to a gag order.
Han had planned to film the victim beforehand
According to court documents seen by Mothership, Han and the victim had arrived after midnight on a flight to Singapore on Apr. 27, 2025, where they were on duty as part of the cabin crew.
After checking into her assigned room with a female colleague at the Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy Hotel at East Coast Road, the victim inspected the amenities in her room, including the toilet, and found nothing amiss.
She also placed her face towel and toiletry pouch on the countertop next to the sink.
At around 2am, other crew members, including Han, entered the victim's room for supper as she had invited them earlier while on the flight.
Han brought a mini camera with him when entering the victim's room, with the sole and deliberate purpose of recording the victim while in a private act in the toilet.
He entered the toilet around 4am, where he placed the camera on the countertop next to the sink facing the toilet bowl in recording mode, and proceeded to conceal the camera with the victim's face towel before leaving the toilet.
The camera was only revealed after the victim used the toilet later and discovered the hidden camera, still recording, underneath the face towel while she washed her hands.
The video had recorded her in the process of relieving herself on the toilet bowl, capturing her face and torso but not any other private areas.
Han did not confess to his offence even after the victim asked the colleagues in her room whether the camera belonged to any of them.
Hotel security officer made a police report
The victim reported the matter to hotel employees as she was fearful that she had been recorded.
A police report was made by the hotel security officer at about 5.21am on Apr. 27, 2025.
The cabin crew members, including Han, initially left Singapore on Apr. 28, 2025, but Han was later arranged to be interviewed by the police on May 16, 2025.
Court documents did not state how Han was found to be linked to the crime.
He was arrested on May 16.
When Han made his first court appearance on May 17, he did not stand bail, and is currently still in remand.
He was found guilty on Jun. 11, 2025 under Penal Code 377BB(3) for intentionally or knowingly recording another person doing a private act without their consent, while knowing or has reason to believe that they do not consent to him recording the act.
Such an offence is punishable with imprisonment of up to two years, or with fine, or caning, or both.
The victim is "severely distressed" after the incident "because she had trusted and respected the accused who she regarded as a mentor".
She sought psychiatric treatment in South Korea, and has been placed on medications for depression, anxiety, anger and insomnia.
