Australian man, 45, arrested for allegedly stealing S$659 of products from same Changi Airport T1 store on 2 occasions

A 45-year-old Australian man has been arrested for two suspected cases of shop theft at Changi Airport Terminal 1.

Around 11:30pm on May 27, the police was alerted to a case of shop theft at Shilla Cosmetic and Perfumes in the transit area of Changi Airport Terminal 1.

Based on preliminary investigations, the police said the man allegedly took a bottle of facial product from the display shelf and left without paying.

The bottle was priced at S$466.

After further investigations and with the aid of CCTV footage, airport police officers established the identity of the man and arrested him on Jun. 1.

The man is believed to be involved in another case of shop theft at the same store, where he had allegedly taken a bottle of perfume worth S$193 and left without paying.

The man will be charged in court on Jun. 12 with the offence of theft in dwelling.

The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, or a fine, or both.
