When one first starts adulting, many things become part and parcel of our vocabulary.
From investing to exchanging currency for travel, and earning cashback perks, these become more important once we have an income.
It can be overwhelming, I know.
One tool that can help with the transition is the Revolut app, an all-in-one money management app that also offers services for travellers, such as fee-free currency exchange across 39 currency wallets, foreign ATM cash withdrawal, bill splitting and eSIM purchases.
Here are five things I bet you didn't know you could do with the Revolut app.
1. Buy an eSIM for travel
If you are travelling and want to stay connected, you'll likely need an eSIM to avoid data roaming charges.
Do you know you can purchase eSIMs directly from the Revolut app?
Revolut offers eSIMs that cover more than 100 countries globally, including Malaysia and other Asean countries, Australia and Japan.

Plans start at S$2.50 for 1GB, and range up to 100GB for those who need more data.
Regional and global data plans are also available for purchase.
Once purchased, the eSIM will be installed on one's phone without the need for a physical SIM card.

Convenient.
2. Split bills when travelling
Revolut is perhaps most commonly used to exchange foreign currency for travel.
The app recently launched five additional currencies, like Chinese yuan (CNY) and Vietnamese dong (VND), allowing you to exchange and hold a total of 39 currencies at competitive rates.
Customers can use a Revolut debit card abroad to pay in more than 150 local currencies.
But did you know that you can also use the Revolut app to split bills with other Revolut users when travelling as a group? You can do so, not just overseas but also in Singapore.
Pesky mental sums, be gone.

In the app, you can select an in-app payment and use the "Split Bill function" to adjust individual amounts owed by your contacts, or divide the bill evenly amongst a group.
Your contacts will then receive a notification with a request for the owed sum.
If accepted, the money will arrive in your account instantly, at no additional charge.
The amounts can be settled in any of the 39 currencies supported in the app.
Which makes it a breeze to settle debts with travel buddies.
3. Invest with flexible accounts
Thinking of investing but don't want to lock in your money for so long?
An option to consider is Revolut's Flexible Account.
The account can be topped up via the Revolut app, and does not have a minimum deposit requirement or any other criteria to earn interest.

Top ups to the account will be invested in low-volatility money market funds managed by global asset manager Fidelity International. Users can select either a USD, GBP or EUR-denominated fund. Annual service fees apply.
Interest from the account is paid daily and available for withdrawal anytime.
Revolut customers who have paid subscription plans can get higher yields.
Setting up a flexible account on the Revolut app is fairly straightforward and can be done in seconds.
For those who prefer a more hassle-free investing experience, Revolut’s new Robo Advisor can automatically invest deposits and manage customers’ portfolios based on their risk tolerance and financial goals.
It comes with a minimum investment of US$100 (S$133).
4. Track transactions and cashback
Even if you're not planning on travelling soon, Revolut has a suite of tools to help you manage your spending in Singapore.
On the app, you can set monthly budgets and categories and see a breakdown of your Revolut spending by each currency wallet.

You can also seamlessly organise your subscriptions – such as music and streaming services – all in one place.

Those who prefer to keep their card details secure can generate a single-use disposable virtual card on the Revolut app for their payments.
Once paid, the card details are deleted so they can’t be skimmed or re-used, for extra security in your one-off transactions.
Customers can generate up to five single-use cards a day.
Additionally, customers can also get up to 5 per cent cashback by shopping in the Revolut app on brands such as Apple, Samsung, Shopee, Sephora, as well as on travel platforms like Klook,Trip.com and KKday.
The cash back will appear in the app's transaction history just like any other incoming payment.
5. Get a free debit card from a vending machine
Many of us might remember our first debit card — perhaps as a gateway into adulting and financial freedom.
One nifty thing about Revolut debit cards is that you can get one from a vending machine, instead of waiting for it to come in the mail.
The first-of-its-kind vending machine was initially located in the National University of Singapore (NUS), at the NUS Students’ Business Club.

Customers can get a free Revolut x Visa debit card by following instructions on the machine.

Once the card is dispensed, one will need to scan the QR code on the envelope and link the card to their Revolut account.
Existing customers can also use the machine if they want to get a new card.
It has just recently moved to Galaxis in Fusionopolis, One-North.
Revolut has something for everyone
For Mothership readers (that’s you!), Revolut also has an extra bonus in store.
As part of a Revolut x Mothership promotion, new customers can get a free S$20 welcome reward if they spend a minimum of S$1 within seven days of opening their Revolut account.
The offer is available till Dec. 31, 2025, and you can redeem it at this link.
Whether you're a travel junkie, a casual investor, or just someone trying to adult better, the Revolut app has something for you.
It is also seamless to create an account and use, with added security features, such as card locking and disposable virtual cards.
And if you want to help your children manage their money better, you can use Revolut <18, which provides a spending card and an account with in-app controls that is linked to a parent or guardian’s account.
The app lets customers track their child’s progress towards their saving goals, get notifications when the <18 card is used, and help them build healthy money habits from young.
