S'porean man, 43, & woman, 33, found dead in KL guesthouse were married, deaths ruled as suicide
Their families have been informed.
Malaysian authorities have ruled the deaths of two Singaporeans in a Kuala Lumpur guesthouse as a suicide on May 18.
The 43-year-old man and 33-year-old woman were also confirmed to be married, reported The Star.
Families informed: KL police chief
KL police chief Rusdi Mohd Isa said that the couple had sealed the doors and windows, and were also believed to have used a grill and charcoal to take their own lives.
He added that their families have been notified and the case is still under investigation.
The statement follows the discovery of their bodies under suspicious circumstances on May 16.
The couple was found dead in a guesthouse located on Jalan Nadchatiram, Cheras, by a staff member who noticed that their shoes were still outside after their supposed checkout time.
After receiving no response to repeated knocks, the staff then entered the room with the manager's permission.
The pair was found on the bed with the air conditioner, fan, and television still running.
Apart from remnants of burnt charcoal, police also found ketamine on a plate.
The bodies were in a decomposing state, emitting a foul smell.
The couple had been staying at the guesthouse for five nights.
Authorities urge individuals facing mental health challenges to seek help.
