The two were found unconscious in a room at the guesthouse on Jalan Nadchatiram by a staff member, local news outlets reported.
The staff had noticed that the front door of the homestay was still locked at around 11am on May 16, and the victims' shoes were placed outside.
She knocked on the door several times and received no response.
Under the instructions of the homestay's manager, she opened the door and found both bodies on the bed.

Further inspection at the scene revealed that the air conditioner had been covered with blue plastic garbage bags, and the window was sealed with a plastic canvas, he remarked.
The police also found remnants of burnt charcoal in a barbecue container and a substance suspected to be ketamine on a plate in the room.
