Motorcyclist, 27, dies in collision with van driver, 75, along Sembawang Road, family appealing for witnesses
He was on his way to his father's grave.
Muhammad Syakir Bin Rosley, 27, was on his way to visit his father’s grave on May 14, 2025, when tragedy struck.
Less than five minutes into his journey, he was involved in a fatal accident with a van at the junction of Sembawang Road and Lorong Chencharu.
Police confirmed with Mothership that they were alerted to the accident involving a van and a motorcycle, at around 2:45 pm that day.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) conveyed the 27-year-old motorcyclist to the hospital unconscious.
He later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
A 75-year-old male van driver was arrested for driving without reasonable consideration causing death.
Police investigations are ongoing.
The motorcyclist's fiancée, Yunn, told Mothership that the family is now appealing for witnesses to the accident to come forward.
Appeal for witnesses
Yunn, who had been with Syakir for five years, said he was on his way to his father’s grave when the accident occurred.
Syakir's friend, who was also on his way to the grave, received a crash detection alert via the location-tracking app Life360.
He noticed that Syakir was not moving at the same location and rushed over to find him.
"What we know from the investigation officer is, Syakir was going straight at Sembawang Road, the van was trying to turn right into Lor Chencharu but the collision happened," she said.
Describing Syakir as someone "very dear" to the family, she urged any witnesses to come forward to provide useful information for the investigation.
"Your help is very appreciated and will bring justice to our family," she said.
Anyone with information about the accident can contact Syakir’s brother, Safiq, at 9224 4501.
