AMK stall sells a plate of chicken rice for just S$1.90, whole chicken for S$8.80

A stall in Ang Mo Kio is turning heads for selling a plate of chicken rice for just S$1.90.

With its attractive price, Nguan Express 88 at Block 704 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 is now reportedly selling about 500 plates daily, reported Shin Min Daily News.

The store manager, Lin Yixing (transliteration), explained to the newspaper how the stall was able to operate at such a low price.

Whole chicken for S$8.80

Lin said that the owner's main business is importing meat. This gives them direct access to the chicken supply, reducing cost.

Not only that, their monthly rent was almost reduced in half after moving to their current location.

The stall originally operated in Ang Mo Kio Hub and sold a plate of chicken rice for S$3.80, but moved to the current location at the end of last year as the rent was too high.

The restaurant is also selling a whole chicken for S$8.80, which comes with two cans of Coke.
