If there is one person who was somewhat happy in defeat this GE2025, it was Desmond Lim from the Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA).

The 58-year-old was seen punching the air to celebrate after it was announced that his team of four members got 32.3 per cent of votes in Pasir Ris-Changi GRC.

Lim told CNA, which produced the clip: "Compared to the last election, 23 per cent and today now it's 33 per cent, it's an improvement. Everything must be step by step, you know. We are not disappointed."

SDA previously ran in Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC in GE2020 and got 23.67 per cent of votes.

It was a three-way fight with the People's Action Party (PAP) and Peoples Voice.

The news segment added that Lim said he hopes the result would encourage more people to join the SDA and make it better for future elections.

Lim and the SDA contested in the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC in 2006, 2011, and 2015 general elections as well, scoring 31.3 per cent, 35.21 per cent, and 27.11 per cent respectively.
