World leaders congratulate PM Wong on election win
The PAP emerged from the 2025 General Election with a 65.57 per cent majority.

World leaders have congratulated Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on the People's Action Party's electoral win on May 4.
The PAP emerged from the 2025 General Election with a 65.57 per cent majority of the vote, up from the party's 61.24 per cent in 2020.
United States
Marco Rubio, the U.S. secretary of state, congratulated the people of Singapore, PM Wong, and the PAP in a press statement.
He said that the U.S. and Singapore have shared a "strong and enduring strategic partnership" for nearly 60 years.
"We look forward to continuing to work closely with the newly elected government and Prime Minister Wong to strengthen economic growth and our bilateral defence and security ties, which benefit Americans, Singaporeans, and others across the region," he said.
Indonesia
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto extended his congratulations to PM Wong on the PAP's victory, and said he hopes to continue Indonesia's partnership with Singapore.
"The decisive victory reflects the trust, stability and confidence of the people of Singapore in the strong leadership of Honourable Wong and the PAP. I believe that the new government will continue its success to lead Singapore," he said in an X post, formerly Twitter.
Thailand
Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister of Thailand, congratulated PM Wong on his "decisive election victory" in an X post, formerly Twitter.
"Look forward to continuing working closely with you to further strengthening our friendship and Thailand - Singapore partnership, especially as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year," she said.
Malaysia
Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim congratulated PM Wong on his win.
"I wish you and your team continued success as you carry forward the responsibilities of leadership in this new term," Anwar said in a Facebook post on May 4.
He also penned his thoughts on how the "prosperity and security of Malaysia and Singapore are indivisible" and said the two countries are bound not only by geography but by "enduring ties of kith and kin".
Taiwan
The Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) issued a statement extending its "sincere congratulations" to the government and people of Singapore on the elections.
Both countries have always enjoyed friendly and cordial relations, and MOFA hopes the two governments will continue to deepen their friendship and expand their bilateral cooperation in future.
New Zealand
The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Christopher Luxon, congratulated PM Wong on the election and noted that New Zealand and Singapore "share a strong and enduring friendship".
"I look forward to celebrating 60 years of close ties later this year and further deepening our partnership," he said in an X post.
India
Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, offered his congratulations to PM Wong's "resounding victory in the general elections".
He noted India and Singapore's strong and multifaceted partnership, and said he looks forward to working closely with PM Wong to further advance the two countries' Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
France
French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated PM Wong and called Singapore "a key partner for France in Asia".
"We will meet again at the end of May, during my State visit, to deepen a relationship built on trust and shared ambition," he wrote in an X post, formerly Twitter.
