2 injured after incident at Mandai Road, person seen lying on road next to portable air compressor

A male lorry driver is assisting with investigations.

A netizen alleged that a portable air compressor rolled down the back of a lorry and onto the road around 3:45pm on Sep. 3, causing two to be injured.

Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed a 52-year-old male motorcyclist and his 45-year-old female pillion were conveyed to the hospital from Mandai Road.

What happened

A video posted on SG Road Vigilante Facebook showed part of the road barricaded by traffic cones, with a blue portable air compressor stuck on the road median.

A paramedic can be seen tending to a person lying on the ground behind the air compressor.

Other officers can be seen at the scene as well.

The netizen alleged that the portable air compressor was improperly secured onto the lorry, causing it to roll off and hit a passing motorcyclist.

A portable air compressor is a tool that supplies compressed air to power heavy tools and is found at construction sites.

Investigations are ongoing

SPF and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Mothership they were alerted to an accident involving a lorry and a motorcycle along Mandai Road towards Woodlands Road.

SCDF conveyed two people to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

A 39-year-old male lorry driver is assisting with investigations.

Police investigations are ongoing.
