"Squid Game" actor O Yeong Su was found guilty of sexual misconduct on Mar. 15, 2024.
The 80-year-old was indicted for sexual misconduct on Nov. 25, 2022, for touching a woman inappropriately in 2017.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the actor was accused of hugging a woman and kissing her on the cheek against her will when he was on a two-month tour in a regional area.
The Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court sentenced O to eight months in jail.
He was also suspended for two years and ordered to complete 40 hours of classes on sexual violence, Yonhap News Agency reported.
The court said that the victim's testimony was "coherent" and "not something that can be made up."
"What's written in the victim's diary, and the counselling report of the victim after the incident pretty much match the details of this case."
When O left the court, he told reporters that he planned to appeal the court decision, Yonhap News Agency wrote.
O was best known for his role in the Netflix series "Squid Games" as Player 001.
In 2022, he won a Golden Globe for best supporting actor in the television category for his role in "Squid Games".
