Another breakthrough has been made in the world of fashion, thanks to Paris-based fashion house Balenciaga.
You've heard of their S$2,996 "IKEA bag" and their S$1,250 towel skirt.
Now brace yourself for the next big thing: the Scotch tape bracelet.
The thing
To the untrained eye, this may just appear to be a roll of Scotch tape you'd pick up at Shopee and whatnot.

But closer inspection will reveal the Balenciaga name proudly stamped across the product, like a slap in the face to the uncultured.
This bracelet was introduced in the brand's Fall/Winter 2024 collection on Mar. 3 during Paris Fashion Week.
It was worn by a model who strutted down the catwalk in a blue dress moulded to her figure with tape in an endeavour to elevate common packaging materials to high fashion.
The tape roll will supposedly cost around US$3,300 (S$4,413), according to the South China Morning Post.
You read that right.
Reactions from normal people
Despite Balenciaga's track record involving baffling fashion choices, people on the Internet were still shook by the pricey stationery accessory.
"Balenciaga is some social experiment for real," wrote one TikTok user.
Others pointed out the possible satire in the collection:
"They're just mocking consumers at this point," one person quipped.
