Singaporean Twitch streamer Kiaraakitty was apparently "attacked" in Taiwan after she was seen in a video she recorded being pelted with eggs by a person on the street.
However, Taiwanese media on Feb. 24 reported that the "attack" was "likely staged" by the streamer, and the attacker is supposedly a man dressed as a woman, who was apparently working in cahoots with Kiaraakitty.
A 1-minute snippet of the egg-throwing incident can be viewed here.
The streamer is on a walking trip across the island that is to last 21 days.
She has been in Taiwan since early February.
She is still in Taiwan.
The "attack"
As seen in the clip, the attack took place during a walk in Kaohsiung’s Qianzhen District on Feb. 9, Taiwan News reported.
The person who was pelting the streamer with eggs could be heard shouting at Kiaraakitty, telling her to stay away from her husband.
The streamer responded by screaming at the attacker, who then walked away briskly.
Kiaraakitty could be heard saying in the video: "I don't know who your husband is. Are you mad?"
There has been conflicting reports about whether Kiaraakitty personally reported the "attack" to the Taiwanese police.
Central News Agency reported that no police report was made in response to the supposed attack, according to the Kaohsiung City police department.
But the Qianzhen branch supposedly conducted an investigation after learning about the incident.
The Daily Star reported that she did make a police report, citing the streamer.
It was also reported that Kiaraakitty told Taiwan media that the attack may have been due to her doing more "adult content" and that it was someone who "felt unhappy" about it.
The "attack" was acknowledged on Kiaraakitty's X (formerly Twitter) account in a tweet.
Another tweet following the attack, which has since been deleted, read:
"Im on taiwan news 🇹🇼 上了台灣新聞! Thankyou everyone for caring for me, hope this person gets arrested soon ! 謝謝大家關心,希望警察找到這怪人"
Attracted police attention
The egg-pelting scene attracted the attention of the Taiwanese public, as well as the police, who have investigated the incident.
Taiwan News further reported that it has since been discovered after reviewing surveillance footage that the egg thrower was a 32-year-old man from Singapore disguised as a woman, and that he was working with the streamer.

The authorities subsequently managed to track the man down as he utilised the subway system following the "attack", and eventually located his place of residence.
They told him on Feb. 11 to present himself for questioning.
The case was treated as a violation of the Social Order Maintenance Act, as the duo had spread rumours influencing public peace, Taiwan News added.
Police also demanded Kiaraakitty make a public apology to the people of Kaohsiung on her Facebook page or during a livestream, as her actions have harmed the city’s image.
In the latest development in response to the incident, udn.com reported that Kiaraakitty said in a stream while riding on the bus in Taiwan on Feb. 24 that she did not know better, but did not apologise.
China Times, on the other hand, reported that Kiaraakitty apologised in a stream on Feb. 24 and appeared to cry.
It was reported that she appeared annoyed while addressing the camera.
She also said: "This (kind of thing) doesn’t happen in Singapore."
Later that evening, while out at Changhua, she was asked about the egg-throwing incident.
She replied that she just wanted "to be funny".
In the video initially promoting her walk around Taiwan, Kiaraakitty said she would be hiding money at different locations and encouraged her viewers to find them to drum up publicity.
Mothership has reached out to Kiaraakitty for comment.
