Our office was recently set abuzz with the arrival of Cadbury’s new chocolate cookies.
Clad in Cadbury’s iconic violet hue, the boxes lounged invitingly on the pantry table, calling out to all who were weary on a Monday morning.
It wasn’t long before most of the boxes were snapped up.
Luckily, I managed to get my hands on one and stashed it away for an after-lunch treat.
Now, I usually pride myself on being disciplined, but these cookies smashed through my barriers of self-restraint like they were made of paper.
Just a whiff of the cookies my colleagues were eating made it impossible for me to resist.
I finally caved to the pull of these three small words:
Once I opened the box, I shook it, and out tumbled six individually wrapped packets.
They were easy to palm and tuck into my pockets, which I took as a sign for me to carry one at all times.
You know, just in case I get peckish.
Each packet contained two cookies, which was a good thing, because I doubt my sweet tooth would have been satiated with just one serving
Sweet surprise
Drawing out a cookie, the first thing that struck me was how smooth the biscuit was.
Like seriously, what is its skincare routine?
Just looking at it made my mouth water.
But no amount of anticipation could have prepared me for its taste.
With each bite, the cocoa biscuit gave way to a soft chocolate filling that melted in my mouth.
It made my taste buds do a little dance.
“It’s a good pick-me-up. Perfect for those with a sweet tooth but not too jelak,” my friend said, offering her stamp of approval.
The little pocket of gooey filling was a great balance to the crunchiness of its surrounding biscuit.
It is both saccharine and delicious, making you feel like you can drown in it forever.
But for real though, it’s a good cookie. You should try it.
Just don’t expect me to share mine.
