As part of the annual reshuffle of principals in Singapore, 52 schools will welcome new principals in 2024.
Of these, five are junior colleges, 21 are secondary schools, and 26 are primary schools.
In a press release from the Ministry of Education (MOE), they said that appointing and rotating principals allows schools to benefit from new perspectives.
It also enables experienced principals to share best practices across schools, they added.
15 of the new principals are newly appointed, while 37 are rotated to new schools.
"For the 15 newly appointed Principals, this is an important career milestone as they assume greater responsibilities as leaders in education," said MOE.
"For the other 37 educators who will be assuming new Principalship appointments, it is an affirmation of MOE’s confidence in their abilities to continue leading and guiding our teachers, staff, and students in schools."
New principals share their thoughts
Raffles Institution's (RI) new principal, Aaron Loh, 48, was a former RI and Raffles Junior College student, reported Straits Times (ST).
He was also a teacher at the college for about three years, teaching literature and general paper.
Ngee Ann Secondary School's new principal, Poh Shi Hui, 38, will be taking on her first role as a principal.
She shared with ST that her main priority when she starts is understanding the staff and students' strengths, aspirations and needs.

Appointment
The new principals will be appointed at the annual Appointment and Appreciation Ceremony for Principals on Dec. 28, 2023.
During the ceremony, the ministry will also acknowledge the contributions of retiring principals and senior education officers from MOE headquarters who have formerly served as principals, according to ST.
10 principals will reportedly be leaving the service by the end of 2023, either due to retirement or the completion of their re-employment contracts.
