Ever wondered what a presidential candidate's earworm might be?

Tharman Shanmugaratnam recently made public his very own Spotify playlist of music.

The presidential hopeful was asked to curate a playlist of his favourite songs during an interview on Zyrup Media's podcast series, Political Prude.

The playlist cover features the former Deputy Prime Minister superimposed on a background of pineapples, a fruit which has made many appearances during Tharman's campaign efforts.

The pineapple is the symbol for Tharman's presidential campaign.

Wide range of songs

Tharman shared on the podcast that the 20 songs in the playlist span decades, and the selection was "partly [him], [his] wife's, some of the influence of [his] kids".

The playlist includes some famous songs such as 'Zombie' by The Cranberries, 'It's My Life' by Bon Jovi, 'Time After Time' by Cyndi Lauper, and 'Yellow' by Coldplay.

It seems Tharman enjoys some modern hits as well such as 'Flowers' by Miley Cyrus.

There are some non-English songs too, like '安静' by Jay Chou and 'Getaran Jiwa' by Tan Sri P. Ramlee, the latter of which he sang at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Geylang Serai Cultural Belt on Jun. 10.

And of course, not to forget one of Singapore's National Day Songs, 'Home' by Kit Chan.

"I think 'Home' is just more emotive, it's less rah rah, but it's emotive," Tharman shared of his reasoning for adding the song.

Tharman noted that the songs in the playlist are not in any significant order.
