All Singapore Pools branches across the island will be closed from 8:00am to 3:00pm on May 9.
This is to allow its 340 employee volunteers, which constitute nearly 40 per cent of its workforce, to spend a day out with close to 300 beneficiaries from 14 social service agencies at Gardens by the Bay.
However, this closure will not affect authorised retail outlets, Livewire venues, and online account services.
Kicking off 55th-anniversary celebration
Founded in 1968, Singapore Pools will be celebrating its 55th anniversary this year.
In conjunction, it will be hosting the upcoming "Singapore Pools Community Day" so as to help close to 300 beneficiaries from 14 social service agencies, such as National Kidney Foundation and Filos Community Services, to enjoy a day out at Gardens by the Bay.
The beneficiaries will enjoy games and engagement activities along walking trails enhanced with Augmented Reality elements.
According to Singapore Pools Chief Executive Officer, Lam Chee Weng, contributing to society is "core" to the company's purpose, and volunteering has been a big part of its corporate culture.
2nd time closing for half-day
The upcoming Singapore Pools Community Day is the second time in the company's history that it is closing its outlets for half a day on a regular day of operations for a community programme.
The first time it closed its branches for half-day was when it celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018.
On May. 15, 2018, close to 300 Singapore Pools staff volunteered to participate in a range of specially-curated programmes and activities for beneficiaries from The Society for the Aged Sick and Metta Welfare Association, amongst others.
