40 residents evacuated due to Pasir Ris 2nd floor HDB flat kitchen fire

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A fire broke out in a second-floor HDB unit located at Block 571 Pasir Ris Street 53 on May 7 evening.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the fire at 9:15pm.

Upon their arrival, firefighters from Tampines Fire Station found a fire raging in the kitchen.

The blaze was captured in a video contributed by a resident staying near to the affected unit.

SCDF added that the fire was extinguished, but the rest of the unit sustained heat and soot damage.

40 residents evacuated, one person conveyed to CGH

Before SCDF arrived at the scene, five occupants from the affected unit had evacuated.

As a precautionary measure, 35 residents from neighbouring units were evacuated by the police and SCDF.

A person from a neighbouring unit was assessed by an SCDF paramedic for dizziness and conveyed to Changi General Hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
