The tourism sector in Singapore is recovering.

More than 2.9 million visitors entered Singapore in the first quarter of 2023, hitting about 62 per cent of pre-Covid-19 numbers, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on April 5, 2023.

Those who arrived here were staying longer at an average of 3.97 days, up from 3.34 days in 2019.

In the first quarter of 2019, Singapore saw 4.7 million visitors.

Visitor numbers are set to grow.

A S$10 million Singapore Onscreen Fund will be launched to support the creation of entertainment content to market and showcase even more facets of Singapore.

STB and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) are partnering for this launch.

Selected media conglomerates, major streamers and production studios with regional or global networks will be invited to apply for the fund.

The 2018 Hollywood film "Crazy Rich Asians", K-drama "Little Women", and HBO’s "Food Affair with Mark Wiens", are examples of branded entertainment that have kept Singapore top of mind among global audiences.

In January 2023, STB announced that international visitor arrivals to Singapore are expected to hit 12 million to 14 million in 2023.

Full tourism recovery is expected by 2024.

Tourism receipts are also anticipated to climb to S$18 billion to S$21 billion.

In 2019, Singapore saw a record 19.1 million visitors and S$27.7 billion in revenue.
