A chicken and seven baby chicks were crossing the road at an estate when a taxi drove through them, running over one of the chicks in the process.
Dashcam footage of the incident was posted on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page on Apr. 1, 2023.
Taxi did not stop to let them cross
In the video, the chicken and chicks are seen strutting along a raised pedestrian crossing.
A lorry avoids crashing into the animals as it makes a right turn.
The car recording the dashcam footage also stops to allow the chicken and chicks to cross the road.
Suddenly, a red taxi from the opposite direction emerges.
Due to the speed at which the driver went over the raised pedestrian crossing, the chickens couldn't get out of the way in time.
The chicken and most of the chicks narrowly escape.
One chick, however, was hit. It can be seen lying motionless on the ground.
Meanwhile, the taxi immediately drives off after the impact.
Happened in Pasir Ris
According to SG Road Vigilante's Facebook post, the incident happened at 1:01pm on Mar. 31, 2023 at Elias Road in Pasir Ris.
More specifically, the incident occurred at an intersection beside Block 615 at Elias Road.

People aren't happy with the taxi driver
The video of the incident has garnered 70,000 views in a day.
As of Apr. 3, the Facebook post has more than 200 shares and over 150 comments.
While some commenters acknowledged that driving over birds is not illegal, most condemned the taxi driver for his actions.
One commenter called the driver "impatient" while another said he was "heartless".
Mothership has reached out to Trans-cab for a statement.
