S'porean man, 49, found with 'ice' & heroin worth S$52,000 in his car at Woodlands checkpoint

In the early hours of Mar. 19, 2023, a Singapore-registered car entered the immigration clearance lane of the departure car zone at Woodlands Checkpoint.

The driver, a 49-year-old Singaporean man, claimed that he had made a wrong turn, and had no intention to depart Singapore.

He was purportedly did not have any valid identity documents or travel documents with him.

ICA conduct check

Immigration and Checkpoints Authority's (ICA) First Response Team officers then performed a biometric screening on the driver and discovered that he had allegedly provided a false identity.

Upon performing a body search, the driver was found with three vapes and a cable knife.

Additionally, suspected controlled drugs, comprising about 332g of ‘Ice’ and 28g of heroin, with an estimated street value of S$52,000, were recovered from his vehicle.

Officers also found suspected drug paraphernalia, three kitchen knives and one vape refill in the car.

The driver was placed under arrest, and investigations by Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) are ongoing.
