The body of a 22-year-old man was found at Kekek Quarry in Pulau Ubin on Apr. 16.
SCDF NSF went missing at that location
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and Singapore Police Force (SPF) told Mothership that the body was seen floating in the water at Kekek Quarry on Pulau Ubin.
An SCDF spokesperson said that a body was seen floating in the water at about 1pm today (Apr.16).
SCDF rescuers retrieved the body.
They were onsite conducting search efforts for the SCDF full-time national serviceman (NSF) who had gone missing.
Mothership understands that the body belonged to the SCDF NSF.
He was pronounced dead by an SCDF paramedic.
SPF said it does not suspect foul play based on preliminary investigations.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Pulau Ubin residents: Body belongs to missing NSF
Chinese media Lianhe Zaobao spoke to several Pulau Ubin residents, who said they were told by the missing NSF's friends and family that his body had been found.
Zaobao further reported that the search and rescue efforts were called off after the NSF's body was found at around 1pm.
His friends and family reportedly bore sad expressions when they boarded the ferry to depart the island at around 2:15pm.
