I love Yakult.

It is one of my favourite drinks as it was a big part of my childhood.

As an adult earning my own money, I buy a pack of Yakult whenever it’s convenient and can go through all five bottles within a day.

Yes, my intestines. *pat pat*

Recently, Yakult Singapore has released a new Yakult Gold that tastes just like Yakult Original, but with less sugar.

To find out if the drink really tastes like Yakult Original, I asked some of my colleagues to try it out and give their thoughts.

But first, what is Yakult Gold?

Yakult Gold is formulated to taste like Yakult Original but with less sugar.

It is 25 per cent lower in saturated fat and sugar as compared to regular cultured milk drinks.

As there is less than five grams of added sugar per 100ml, this makes it a Nutri-Grade B drink.

It is also fortified with Vitamin D.

Yakult Gold contains L. paracasei strain Shirota, a unique probiotic that helps with digestion and maintains intestinal health.

It also contains no fat, or preservatives, and it is cholesterol and gluten-free.

“Got difference meh?”

I went around the office and asked about 18 of my colleagues to give Yakult Gold a try to see if it tastes different from Yakult Original.

The general consensus was that it tastes just like the Yakult Original.

“If you did not tell me this is a different Yakult flavour, I would not have known.”

“While it is slightly sweet and a little thin, the iconic flavour of Yakult is still there.”

Quite a number of my colleagues ended up preferring the Yakult Gold to the original - the more they drank, the more it grew on them, converting them to fans.

Have I mentioned? Yakult Gold also makes a great mixer with other drinks like green tea and soju.

Go get a pack

The new Yakult Gold will be available for purchase at supermarkets and shops across Singapore from Mar. 6, 2023.
