The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) issued a warning via the SMS Public Alert System and the SGSecure app on Monday (Mar. 13) at around 7:19pm for the public to stay away from Tuas South Avenue 8 due to an ongoing firefighting operation.
SCDF said that the fire, located at 28 Tuas South Avenue 8, “had engulfed an industrial building as well as the inter-connecting warehouse”, and the size of the fire is “about one and a half football fields.”
Flammable solvents involved
As of 9:00pm, SCDF had deployed eight water jets and one Unmanned Firefighting Machine.
SCDF expected an extended firefighting operation, explaining that the fire involved drums of flammable solvents.

Building up in flames
People who witnessed the fire uploaded multiple videos on social media.
In one video, the industrial building can be seen up in flames, with large pieces of burning materials dropping out of the sky.
Two injured
SCDF said that while paramedics assessed two workers for blisters on their hands and forehead, they declined to be sent to the hospital.
As of Mar. 13, 9:00pm, there were no other reported injuries.
