The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will be launching a new CareersFinder feature on the MyCareersFuture portal in the third quarter of 2023.

"CareersFinder is the first step to try and integrate jobs and training recommenders", said Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Tan See Leng in his speech on Mar. 1 during the Committee of Supply (COS) debates.

According to Tan, the feature to recommend jobs and skills was launched in response to feedback that some Singaporeans prefer to explore job opportunities and skills upgrading simultaneously due to their interrelationship.

Add-on to MyCareersFuture portal

CareersFinder will be a new add-on feature on Workforce Singapore (WSG)’s current MyCareersFuture portal.

This is an addition to the current features of the portal, which includes jobs-to-skills matching technology, government support filter and the Workipedia by MyCareersFuture.

The feature is targeted at all individuals, including:

  • those who wish to explore new career opportunities but are unsure where to start
  • those who wish to branch out into adjacent job areas and want to find out the required skills
  • those who wish to re-enter the workforce who wish to up-skill or make a career switch

An example of a CareersFinder user journey is as shown:

CareersFinder consolidates career-related information and services from across MyCareersFuture, the Skills Framework and MySkillsFuture, to provide users with personalised jobs and skills related recommendations.

These would be generated from users' responses to a series of quiz questions.

The beta version of CareersFinder is expected to launch later in the year and more information will be available then.

Data and personalisation

CareersFinder capitalises on artificial intelligence, using data on skills adjacencies and job transitions to aid job seekers.

The feature will help to identify potential career opportunities that are personalised based on users' individualism profiles. Suitable training programmes would also be recommended.

Those who want to find out more about CareersFinder can register their interest via WSG’s website.
