In other countries, there is Tank Man.
Here in Singapore, there is Bus Man.
A man in Clementi was caught on video standing in the way of a double-decker bus pulling into the bus stop, as he was apparently upset he missed the bus he wanted to board -- because he was occupied with his mobile phone.
This bizarre incident was caught on camera and put up on Facebook on March 18.
Angry that bus didn't stop
The post claimed that the man was angry as he had missed his bus as he was occupied with using his mobile phone.
Moreover, no other commuters at the bus stop flagged down the bus he wanted to board.
As a result, the bus driver assumed there was no need to stop and drove past the bus stop.
To take matters into his own hands, he stood in the bus stop lane instead.
Did not return to bus stop
The post added that the man did not return to the bus stop, even though the oncoming bus honked repeatedly at him.
In a bid to not run him over, the bus captain had to apply the brakes several times to slow the bus down and to steer it away from the man, who was barely retreating.
It was not even clear if this was the bus he wanted to board.
Reactions
The antics of the man was panned by commenters on the post.
Many said the man was being a nuisance, and his behaviour was a disgrace.
A number of commenters said they empathised with the bus driver, whose job was made unnecessarily more difficult and dangerous, and who was forced to confront a rando on the road without knowing what had transpired earlier.
