Dozens of carcasses, likely to be cats, were found in a rental condominium in Bandar Sri Peramaisuri, Malaysia.
In addition, organs, limbs and ground meat suspected to be from cats were also discovered in the condominium, said the Malaysian Animal Association.
Complaints of foul smell
In a Facebook post by the Malaysian Animal Association on Mar. 24, 2023, the incident was discovered after some neighbours complained about the foul smell coming from inside the rented house.
The house was being rented out to a 31-year-old Malaysian.
According to the Facebook post, the owner of the rental unit lodged a police report on Mar. 13, 2023.
The owner inspected the unit and found the condition of the place to be "very bad, tragic and horrific".
The post mentioned that many bodies were found lying around and in a room filled with animal carcasses that were suspected to have been decaying for a long time.
The case is being investigated by the Malaysian Association of Animals.
The Association described the whole incident as "tragic" and "horrific".
If it is a case of animal cruelty, they demand that the perpetrators be "dragged to court and prosecuted under the Animal Welfare Act 2015".
