The Singapore Silat Federation (SSF) has suspended its finance director and lodged a police report against him on Feb. 23.

In a Feb. 25 statement, the SSF said that it had recently "been made aware of irregularities relating to salary payments to some of our coaches."

The said finance director has not been named.

Separately, a SportSG spokesperson said that they had recently received feedback alleging irregularities in the SSF's financial practices.

SportSG is a statutory board of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY).

What happened

SportSG shared that they conducted checks after receiving the feedback, and uncovered information that was "cause for serious concern".

They then met with the SSF management committee to inform them of their findings.

The SSF subsequently suspended their finance director from his duties, and lodged a police report. The federation shared that it will fully cooperate with authorities in their investigations, review their internal processes and "strengthen the system".

SSF and SportSG will work together to minimise the impact of this incident on coaches and athletes in the Silat fraternity, and continue to support its athletes' training and during competitions.

Both bodies said they were unable to share further details as the case is still under investigation.
