Loyang Avenue between Pasir Ris Drive 3 and Loyang Way was closed on Feb. 26, 2023 and will remain so for the next six years till the second quarter of 2029, the Land Transport Authority said.
A reminder of the partial closure of Loyang Avenue to facilitate construction work for the Cross Island Line Loyang Station and Loyang Viaduct was put up on Facebook on Feb. 23.
Closed for 6 years
The closure of roads to facilitate MRT works in the area is not new.
Pasir Ris Drive 1 has been closed since October 2022 for MRT works and will reopen in the second quarter of 2028.
The Loyang MRT station, as part of the Cross Island Line (CRL), is expected to be ready by 2030.
It is underground along Loyang Avenue.
LTA previously said there are many utilities under the road, with multiple traffic diversions needed to realign the utilities.
Construction of the station started in end-2021.
The completion of Loyang station will cut 35 minutes of travel time between Loyang Industrial Area and Hougang, reducing the commute to 20 minutes, LTA said.
It will also save 50 minutes in travel time between Loyang Industrial Area and Serangoon North, bringing the commute down to 25 minutes.
Alternative routes to Changi village
Motorists heading to Changi Village can look out for wayfinding signs and traffic advisory messages on site.
Public buses
Three pairs of bus stops along Loyang Avenue will be closed, and one pair will be relocated to the bus-only corridor along Loyang Avenue.
Services 9, 19, 59, 89, 89e and 109 will be temporarily amended to serve two pairs of bus stops along Loyang Way.
