A well-loved bak chor mee stall in Sim Lim Square's food court has closed down.
Modestly named "Fishball Minced Meat Noodle", the stall has been closed for business since Dec. 31, 2022, according to its Facebook page.
The eatery said that the lease for the stall had ended, after almost two decades.
The post also paid tribute to "VIPs" — listed as "Grandpa & Grandma Ng, their 2 daughters aunt J and mum C" — and "employee uncles LC and AK".
"As my grandparents approach retirement age, the stall has been mainly helmed by the next generation. While it is not an easy journey, the support from everyone around us has kept us going," they wrote.
New beginnings
However, it's not the end of the road for the eatery.
In response to comments on the Facebook post, the eatery said that they do not have a new space yet but will update their Facebook page when they do.
"It is not easy to say goodbye to all the familiar faces around us & a place that we have grown so used to, but we are looking forward to new beginnings!" wrote the eatery in their post.
Among the bak chor mee's stall fanbase includes Mandopop singer JJ Lin, who also brought Taiwanese singer Jay Chou in September 2018 to eat at the humble eatery.
