A man threw three knives out of an HDB flat from the fourth floor during a dispute with his girlfriend.

Girlfriend suspected him of cheating, threw laptop first

According to Chinese daily Lianhe Zaobao (Zaobao), the incident took place in Jurong East on November 1, 2020.

The 44-year-old man named Yang Wenhua (his Chinese name) acted out that night as he was unhappy that his girlfriend suspected that he was cheating. The girlfriend confronted him and that led to a huge row between the couple.

Yang said that his action was incited after his girlfriend threw his laptop out of the window.

Yang followed by throwing the kitchen knives, one after another out of their apartment on the fourth floor.

Fortunately, no one was injured by the falling knives, which fell onto the grass patch below.

Continued fighting at the void deck

Yang later picked up a pair of scissors and another knife and went down to the first level where the couple reportedly got into a fight.

Zaobao did not state why and how the couple moved downstairs, or what happened in the time between.

After hearing some commotion, a member of the public then alerted the police and said that a man was hitting a woman at the void deck.

Pleaded guilty

Yang pleaded guilty in court on May 5 to one count of reckless act that endangers human life.

Another count of voluntarily causing grievous hurt and one count of criminal force will be taken into consideration in his sentencing.

According to Zaobao, Yang said he was fully aware of the dangers of his behaviour at that time of the incident, and had sought psychological treatment after the incident.

On that basis, Yang's defence lawyer asked a mandatory treatment order suitability report which the judge has granted.

Yang was also granted bail of S$5,000 and will return to court for his sentencing on June 6.
