72-year-old Yang Xinmin has been bodybuilding for the past 37 years.
The bodybuilder, who resides in Sanya, China, shared that exercising every day and eating six to eight eggs for breakfast were key to his youthful looks.
Strict regime
To maintain his physique, Yang elaborated that he goes for a morning jog every day, and strength training for an hour and a half in the afternoon, according to the South China Morning Post.
In an interview with Chinese fitness media company Change Production in 2018, Yang also shared that it was his daily bodybuilding training that has significantly contributed to his health over the years, leading to him having normal blood pressure, normal blood lipids and the "bone density of a 30-year-old".
Alongside his training regime, Yang credited the role his diet has played in helping him maintain his youthfulness.
Said Yang, "For breakfast I usually have tomatoes, cucumber, oatmeal, and some chicken breast. I've been eating like this for almost 10 years."
Inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger
According to the People's Daily, Yang is one of the first ever bodybuilders in China.
SCMP reported that Yang had first picked up the sport, because he was motivated by Arnold Schwarzenegger's muscles, and had wanted to develop a body like his.
Yang subsequently began bodybuilding in 1984 – one year after China first lifted a ban on bodybuilding that had been implemented since 1953.
Elaborating on his bodybuilding journey, Yang said:
"I started bodybuilding training in 1984. Since then I've competed in over 100 shows, including big shows and small ones. The happiest moments are when I do well in big shows. The first time was when I won the Asian Championship in 1998. That's one of the happiest moments of my life."
